This context, the Safe Spaces Act passed in 2019, provides for enhanced protection in many areas. It penalizes gender-based sexual harassment (GBSH). It frames gender-based sexual harassment as a human rights issue that must be addressed. This law is viewed as a significant step towards the recognition of LGBTQIA++ community and the further protection of women and girls, who comprise the majority of victims of sexual harassment and other forms of gender-based violence.
