Radio Plug on RA11313 or Safe Spaces Act: Macho Choir “Paa, Tuhod, Balikat, Ulo”

Paa, Tuhod, Balikat, Ulo (PTBU) is part of the radio campaign launched by the Philippine Commission on Women and the DDB Group Philippines during the 2018 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW).

Dubbed as “The Macho Choir,” this award-winning campaign used three songs from our childhood that replaces the lyrics with messages against catcalling to emphasize that catcalling is a kind of sexual harassment and it is no laughing matter. Also featured in this radio campaign are the songs “Sitsiritsit” and “Tsong, Tsong, Tsong.”

The nursery rhymes were chosen to reinforce the insight that catcalling is juvenile and immature behavior, as stated in Republic Act 11313. If we communicate to these perpetrators at a level that resonates with them and with voices they can relate to, we just might be able to break through and affect their behavior.
