Paving the Inclusive Path Toward Water for All: Policies and Cases Supporting a Human Rights-Based Approach in Asia and the Pacific

Over a billion people in Asia and the Pacific lack adequate sanitation. This publication shows how adopting a human rights-based approach (HRBA) can help achieve equitable access to water and sanitation to create a healthy environment for all.

Drawing on examples from countries including Cambodia and Indonesia, the publication shows how an HRBA can be incorporated into the design, planning, and operations of projects that support marginalized groups. With 500 million living without basic water access, it shows how an HRBA can reduce discrimination and increase participation, transparency, and inclusion to narrow the water divide and drive long-term sustainability.
