GREAT Women Project: Integrating Environmental Governance in Women’s Economic Empowerment Initiatives: Towards Environmentally Sound and Gender Sensitive Enterprises

This case study discusses about how the GREAT Women Project and the DENR prioritized the integration of a gender dimension in environmental laws, through the subproject activities of DENR-EMB. Integrating a gender dimension in environmental laws helps determine women’s roles in implementing environmental laws and in promoting sound environmental practices. Through gender-aware environmental laws, women micro and small entrepreneurs, local government units and NGOs will have higher awareness on environmental laws and regulations for pollution prevention and environmental protection.
