Gabriela party lauds Pope’s take on divorce

 

A papal declaration that separation of couples may be “inevitable” and “morally necessary” in certain cases has given proponents of the divorce bill a new lead in arguing for enactment of the measure that has been pending for nearly eight years now. Gabriela Women’s Party Reps. Luz Ilagan  and Emmi de Jesus lauded Pope Francis for “opening” a new discussion on troubled marriages.

Lawmaker bats for bill to penalize sexual discrimination

 

A woman House leader is pushing for the final passage of a bill seeking to penalize discriminatory practices based on sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity. AAMBIS-Owa Party list Representative Sharon Garin, vice chairperson of the House Committee on Ways and Means, one of the sponsors of the measure, asked the House leadership to prioritize the passage of House Bill 5687 when the third regular session of 16th Congress opens on July 27.
